Does Deputy President William Ruto have what it takes to stand tall in the Rift Valley come 2022?

The DP has already rolled out his plans heading into 2022 and is currently seen by many as the man to beat. He is however facing great opposition from within the Jubilee Party with a faction known as Kieleweke now out to frustrate him.

As if his troubles in Jubilee are not enough, Ruto is also facing opposition from his Rift Valley backyard where a number of Politicians have ganged up to ensure he does not get anywhere near statehouse come 2022.

The rebellion against Ruto is being spearheaded by KANU Party leader and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi alongside Chama Cha Mashinani Leader Isaac Rutto.

The Duo have now identified Eight Counties within the Rift Valley where they aim to spread the Anti-Ruto Gospel.

This is part of the plan the duo have to debunk the William Ruto Political Kingship Status in the Rift Valley.

Gideon Moi has already acquired an expansive office in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area where he plans to establish his presidential campaign secretariat.

This is a clear indication that the Baringo Senator is so serious about going for the Country’s Top Job come 2022. He will be following in the footsteps of Uhuru Kenyatta who contested for Presidency after his Father, the Late Jomo Kenyatta also became Head of State.

Gideon Moi will be riding on the Moi wave and the fact that Ruto has still not been 100% accepted in the Rift Valley and different Parts of the Country.

With Gideon Moi on the ballot, it will be difficult for Ruto to have an easy Political Ride especially with the various grave allegations labelled againt him.

According to Tiaty MP William Kamket, Ruto’s time at the top is soon coming to an end.

“Do you sincerely think that Ruto can become anything beyond what he is now?” asked Tiaty MP William Kamket.

“Ashukuru Mungu mahali amefika (He should thank God for where has reached). But at this rate, I highly doubt whether he will finish his term as the DP,” he said.

Well, Ruto has been succesful against the duo in the past but with the changing political dynamics, he will have to play his Political cards right failure to which he should be prepared for a rude shock.

In 2017, Ruto’s Jubilee’s Party floored Isaac Rutto as in the Bomet Gubernatorial Elections with Lorna Laboso carrying the day.

Isaac Rutto is set to make a major political comeback and with his CCM Party, he is out to make himself a force to reckon with in the Rift Valley Political Scene.

CCM has identified key counties, especially in the South Rift, dominated by the Kispsigis where it’s seeking a clean sweep of electoral seats.

These are Kericho, Bomet, Narok and parts of Uasin Gishu and Nakuru counties.

Kanu on the other hand is targeting Nakuru, Baringo, Laikipia, West Pokot and Samburu.

With this in mind, Ruto’s Jubilee Party is only left with the North Rift Valley Counties of Nandi, Elgeiyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Turkana and Kajiado.

Another Top Politicain from the Rift Valley that is out to finish Ruto is Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny who has since joined the Kieleweke team.

According to Kutuny, many residents of the Rift Valley are unhappy with Ruto’s leadership and as such they want him out of office come 2022 since he resorted to enriching himself at the expense of those who voted for him.

A number of senior professionals from the Rift Valley are also unhappy with Ruto.

“The jostling and activity of these parties is an indicator of the disquiet. They have noticed a big vacuum in leadership an are now taking over,” Said Kutuny.

“Farmers across the region are very unhappy and its root cause can be traced to poor leadership. The people are yearning for change.” he added.

Last week, Isaac Rutto said it must be made clear that Rift Valley does not belong to anybody.

“In Rift Valley, there is this notion that this is a stronghold of a certain party. We want to go into the next election with free political space. If someone will come to force us to toe some political line, we will deal with it directly. We will no longer take intimidation,” he said.

Well, with the ongoing supremacy battles in the Rift Valley and an apparent rift in the region, DP William Ruto has two options, he should either sit down and talk with Gideon Moi and Isaac Ruto or go all alone in the elections and risk it all.

What option will he take? Well, only time will tell as we still have a long way to go to 2022.
