Mt Kenya leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta under the Kielewekeke movement are now planning to use the tyranny of numbers currently being enjoyed by the group from Raila Odinga’s backyard to neutralize Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidency ambitions.

There are extremely powerful political implications and possibly serious consequences following the introduction of a Bill drafted to change the power structures from the Presidency to the yet to be introduced Prime Ministerial.

The current intentions for the change of the 2010 constitution as observed by many in Ruto’s camp is to reward poll losers and also to extend President Uhuru’s tenure through the creation of a very powerful Prime Minister post that will see Uhuru bounced back to government after 2022 with Raila Odinga as a ceremonial President.

Though the Jubilee hawks have been quick to distance themselves from the introduction of these proposed changes to the constitution, what is clear is the fact that it would be a plot in the offing by Jubilee operative Moses Kuria who has only come out in public that he is one who was told to prepare President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political continuity.

If passed into law using the tyranny of numbers that Jubilee enjoys in parliament the central Kenya or Mt. Kenya Jubilee operatives will have effectively neutralized Deputy President William Ruto’s ambitions to the presidency under the constitution as it is.

The group which has nicknamed itself ‘Mabadiliko camp’ are already pushing for a referendum in order to introduce the Position of a powerful Prime Minister and two deputies with the Presidency being ceremonial.

While the President will be elected on the ballot, the PM position will go to the leader of the majority party or coalition which goes without saying is Jubilee. The Statehouse mandarins have it all planned out.

In the new power set up, the Presidency will then go to ODM leader Raila Odinga, President Uhuru Kenyatta becomes a powerful Prime Minister while Gideon Moi and Mudavadi hold the deputy prime Ministers to bring in the Kalenjin and Western Votes.

Indeed constitutionally President Kenyatta will be eligible to vie for the proposed powerful Prime Ministerial Post to continue ruling the country and serving the Mt. Kenya interests while whoever gets the Presidency will be landing an office without power as it currently is with President Kenyatta in office.

Though the Mt. Kenya Jubilee operatives are denying any association with this serious political development, what every Kenyan knows is the fact that Kanu from which the legislator who crafted the Bill belongs to is part and parcel of Jubilee albeit the Rift Valley part of that outfit.

On Wednesday of that (this) week, the Budget and Appropriations Committee of the National Assembly would scrutinize the financial implication of Mr. Kamket’s Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2017, which is the most elaborate and radical attempt to amend the 2010 Constitution yet.

William Ruto is already aware of these plans and insider sources states that the deputy president is planning on a way he will use to counter the plans without being seen as always being on the opposing side.

Ruto has on many occasions insisted that he is ready for the referendum as long as it will serve the purpose of getting rid of extra luggage that is overburdening Kenyans without necessarily adding extra positions. If need be, Ruto is said to be considering a Prime Minister’s position to counter Raila’s influence in government.
