Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula is a man under siege over the fake gold scandal. Wetangula is the face of the scandal that has since turned to a political battlefield.

The Ford Kenya leader’s name hit the headlines after an audio conversation with an audibly angry businessman over an alleged gold consignment emerged.

The Senator has not spoken on his alleged involvement, choosing to take a low profile. He jetted back from China over the weekend, where he was attending an international anti-corruption conference. We just don’t know if he had any input in the discussions.

As we said, the Senator has maintained a low profile since the scandal broke out. The last time he posted on social media was on 17th May, when he responded to Boni Khalwale’s decision to ditch Ford Kenya and join Jubilee.

But on Monday morning, Wetangula logged into his Twitter account to send condolences to the family of veteran Teso politician Oduya Oprong, who passed away at KNH on Sunday.

“It’s with deep sorrow and regret to learn of the passing on of Mzee Oduya Oprong, former mp Busia North now Teso North & South, Gusia County.” Reads part of a message shared on social media.

Looking at the statement, you can see he said Gusia instead of Busia. And Kenyans believe the G has something to do with Gold. Yaani, the beloved Senator can’t get over the UAE scandal. He literally sleeps and drinks it.

Do you guys know that the one-time Presidential hopeful has a new name? Sultan Weta Al Maktoum bin Masika. Alafu kuna wale Wakenya wanapenda kuomba kuomba. They want Wetangula to give them part of the Golden money.

Lakini Wakenya, mbona hamnaga huruma?

We hope Wetangula will respond to these comments soon. Because it is just not going to go away.

Mzee Oprong passed away at 83. His family says that he was rushed to the hospital after developing chest complications.

He survived an assassination attempt in 1994 while serving as an assistant minister for  Planning and Economic Development; the bullet remained lodged in his brain until his demise,  25 years later.
