Ambrose Rachier, Gor Mahia Chair, hints on a early exit from the club

Gor Mahia Chairman who has served the third times in a row Champions for a decade has announced his decisions to end his leadership at the club come December.

The long-serving no-nonsense chairman opened up on his wish to relinquish his services with the defending champions at the end of the year after recording his sixth Kenyan Premier League title with the club in an interview with a local radio station.

Rachier, who has been on the position for ten years replaced Erastus Okul, expressed his desire to part ways with the club at the end of the year, which is way earlier than the expected dates of the polls.

He cited his fierce critics as one of the main reasons as to why he is making an early decision to quit saying he would want to see how the leaders who will be elected will muscle up for the top seat and navigate the club through next season’s murky waters which include conquering the Caf Champions League.

“I must leave Gor Mahia before the end of the year even though I have not groomed my successor but will leave it to the members to decide who they give the job. It’s my very good wish to see my critics come and take over and I wish they can be elected,” he said.

The self-proclaimed outgoing Chairman has been pointed out for his great contribution towards stabilising the then relegation-bound club after taking over the club which saw them claim six league titles, two SportPesa Cup titles, two KPL Top Eight titles, four KPL Super Cups and two President’s Cups as well as playing with England sides, Everton and Hull City.

The green army has also produced top-class players who have shown their worth in the national team and boast of the highest number of local players in the squad bound to represent the country in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt from June 21st in June.

However, under his watch, he has been highly criticised for his failure to get the club which does e not have a sponsor from debts instead they say he has sunk them into more debts than he found them.

He further confirmed that the club was in talks with their former sponsors, Tuzo on  possible sponsorship that might be coming in anytime soon

He has also been criticized for failing to get the club a stadium despite being a close associate of the patron and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to which he said they are collecting enough funds to construct a stadium saying the lad is already in place awaiting a title deed.

The Chairman was not in attendance over the weekend when the Champions were given the trophy over the weekend after playing their last game of the season but confirmed he was attending a burial ceremony back home.
