Sombre mood of bereavement has rocked the family of Citizen TV Swahili news anchor Swaleh Mdoe following the death of his father, Ali Buki.
The fun-filled anchor known by his signature ‘tafakari ya Babu’ revealed the sad news saying that the dad passed away on Sunday afternoon in Malindi. His dad had been battling throat cancer for a long period.
He reportedly died a few minutes after midday in Malindi.
According to Mdoe, his dad had been hospitalised for a few months before he succumbed.
He had been residing in Mombasa where he was with his family before he was moved to Malindi where the elder sister resides.
“For the past one month he has been in Malindi and on Tuesday this week, he was discharged from Malindi hospital. Today at around 12:40 I was called by my aunt to inform me that my dad had passed away,” stated Mdoe.
Several leaders and friends from the media industry have poured their messages of condolences to the family of the deceased following the loss.
Plans are underway to lay Mzee Buki to rest in Malindi Monday in the Islamic norms.
