Forget the Maize, Raila Spills the Beans On His Role in the Fake Gold Scam

The controversy surrounding the Fake Gold scandal continues to baffle many Kenyans as different versions of the whole scam keep coming up day in, day out.

Few days after the United Arab Emirates through it’s ambassador to Kenya Khalid Mualla, denied Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum’s involvement in the business deal gone bad, Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has come out to give even more contradictory statements to UAE’s latest position on the matter.

According to Odinga, he travelled to United Arab Emirates (UAE) to meet the Royal family only for him to confront dubious businessmen from Kenya trying to con the Arab crown.

The AU High envoy for infrastructure has claimed that he is the Whistleblower in the whole Fake Gold Scam even as he called for investigations to bring all the suspects to book.

“Mimi ndio nilipiga firimbi kusema mali ya watu imeibiwa na kuuliza uchunguzi ufanywe,” (I was the whistle blower in the fake gold scandal that I asked authorities to investigate this matter)”, he said.

Speaking in Kisii during the burial of Dr. David Gilbert Ombati, Odinga said that the whole scandal should not take a political twist and that investigative agencies should be allowed to do their work.

He also praised Interior CS Fred Matiang’i saying that the CS should not be in anyway implicated in the mess.

“CS Matiangi ni msafi kama pamba,” (The CS is clean from any blame or corruption in the fake gold business). We put him there so that he can assist us to fight corruption,” he added.

The ODM leader said investigations would reveal the real culprits.Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri also came to the defence of Matiang’i claiming there was a plan to fix him.

Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka said Kenyans were tired of politics of hate and urged Deputy President William Ruto to respect Raila and stop his attacks against the former premier.

Mr. Odinga’s latest statement come at a time when Political leaders in Jubilee led by DP William Ruto have called for arrests to be made with some of them even accusing Raila and Matiang’i of having a hand in the scandal.

With this in mind, Odinga’s remarks are likely to cause another round of Political Debates and rhetorics across various political circles.

Kenyans on the other hand continue to wait for the truth on who did what in this whole mess that has put the Country on the International Map for all the wrong reasons.
