Top 3 Gor Mahia Stars Who Might Be Leaving This Season

“It wasn’t a walk in the park” This is probably what Gor Mahia are currently saying after being crowned winners of the Kenya Premier League title this season.

Gor secured the win after a hard struggle throughout the season. In fact, if it was not for their dominance in the League, K’Ogalo wouldn’t be close to winning the title.

The Green Army found it rough during their continental competition; hostility with opponents, financial inadequacy, sudden change of coach among others. In short, it has been one of the worst seasons’ for K’Ogalo.

But thanks to Gor Mahia players who have been resilient despite the hardship. With the same squad, Gor can rest assured that next season will be glorious to them.

Unfortunately, K’Ogalo stands the risk of losing some of their best players whose contracts are about to end and have not got into negotiation with the club regarding renewal.

For instance, Gor Mahia captain Haron Shakava might be leaving this season, according to reports.

Shakava has played for Gor as a central defender since 2014 and has won five League titles with the Green Army, making him join legends Bob Ogola and Tobias Ochola Juakali, who both managed to win 5 title with K’Ogalo.

With only six months left for his contract to run out, the defender already cast doubt about his future with the Green Army.

“I cannot tell where I will be playing next season because as it stands, my contract with the club is almost over. Officials have not opened talks with me and as per Fifa rules, I am allowed to negotiate with other teams,” Shakava said.

“Right now my main focus is to help the team finish the season on a high, but I cannot talk much about next season because I do not know whether I will be at Gor Mahia or somewhere else.”

The 26-year-old joined Gor after ditching Kakamega Homeboyz as a young defender and was made captain by former Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr.

Players like Jacques Tusiyenge, Francis Kahata, and Philemon Otieno are among K’Ogalo stars who might be leaving the club after this season as their contracts are set to expire before the start of next season.

It is official that Gor is the club that will represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League next season after successfully securing their 18th League title.
