Former Bomet governor and Chama Cha Mashnani Party leader Isaac Rutto has cautioned his one-time ally and Deputy President William Ruto against relying on Mt. Kenya vote to propel him to the presidency in 2022.

Rutto who was speaking on KTN’s PointBlank observed that Ruto will not benefit much from associating himself with the first term legislatures from the region at the expense of the veterans.

The once NASA principal reminded Ruto about the region’s voting patterns warning that he risks getting heartbreaks and depressions when the community gang up and betray him at the last minute.

Instead, the CCM leader advised William to drop all his current political allies who have zero experience and start courting experienced regional kingpins, like Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka among others because, with  nature of country’s politics, when the real campaigns will start it is these leaders who will hold sway in their region.

This was interpreted as a piece of advice to Ruto to drop the likes of Boni Khalwale who recently defected to Jubilee from Fiord Kenya and start courting political heavyweights like Musalia Mudavadi and Wetangula Moses from Western Kenya.

Rutto observed that the first time and youthful legislatures from Mt. Kenya region are only after Ruto’s fortunes and will only disappear when the real race begins to shape in 2021.

“In Central where he spends most of his time …. you can’t take seriously these MPs. These are first-timers who have just arrived on the scene. You know that 70 percent of those MPs will just dissipate when the bells are sounded. How many of the MPs can stand up to (President) Uhuru in Murang’a? If he tells them to shut up they will all shut up in one day,” he said.

Isaac Rutto said Central Kenya has its own voting patterns if the DP though he was assured of the region’s backing, then he was in a deep slumber.

“We also know something about Central region. We are not new in this country and we have seen elections. Central region will play all sorts of games in between and in the last three weeks they will decide where to vote and they will not tell anyone, you will only see the result.”

He made reference to history when Uhuru vied in 2002 but was badly humiliated by Mwai Kibaki. He observed that the same fate is likely to befall Ruto in 2022.

This is not the first time Ruto is getting such warnings. Many analysts have warned him before not to put all his eggs in one basket but instead major on making more friends especially with his enemies as these would be the people who will help him in 2022 should the vote-rich central Kenya fail to support him.
