Former Bomet governor Isaac Rutto alias ‘Kiplogom‘ has confirmed reports that there is a possibility for him to enter into a coalition with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi come 2022.

Rutto who was speaking on an interview with Tonny Gashoka on KTN’s Point Blank on Wednesday evening did not dispute the possibility of teaming up with Moi saying that he is usually in talks with Gideon Moi quite often.

“We talk quite a bit with Gideon Moi,” he said. Although he said he has no “hill will” with Deputy President William Ruto, the former Bomet governor said it is with Gideon that the chemistry is good.

“We work very well with Gideon Moi,” he said. Mr. Rutto was one of the people who got the chance to speak in Kabarak during the funeral of Gideon’s brother, Jonathan.

Mr. Ruto was introduced under the category of leaders of political parties, although the family had requested that politics be avoided during the burial. And despite declaring that it is too early to talk about 2022 arrangements, he admitted that he has been in touch with other leaders from different parts of the country.

Asked whether he would be willing to work with the DP, he said he would not make the decision alone.

“If there is a need for us to support him, he will have to approach us as Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM),” said Rutto.

Isaac Ruto has not been in good relationship with the region’s kingpin William Ruto since the introduction of devolution where Rutto was advocating for more funds to be set aside for devolution (mashinani) with William Ruto opposing the same.

Their relationship deteriorated in 2016 when Isaac Ruto turned down the idea of dissolving URP party to merge it with TNA and have Jubilee.  Rutto instead charted his own move and unveiled his Cham Cha Mashinani CCM party which aimed at advocating for devolution in the grassroots.

Last December, Ruto hosted Deputy President William Ruto at Bomet and there were talks within the media that the former governor was to be rewarded by a cabinet post.

It is however not clear why the former senator missed out on the slot with reports indicating that he turned down William Ruto’s proposal to take over his CCM party and use in 2022 as an option for the already crumbling Jubilee party.
