Final Words of 7-year-old Butchered Matungu Boy to Mum

Miriam Kaluki

The mother of the slain seven-year-old Matungu boy butchered by the dreaded Matungu gang has revealed the exact words her son said before meeting his brutal death.

The death of Malik Murunga happened just days after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Police IG Hillary Mutyambai had just poured a contingent of officers drawn from the General Service Unit in the area.

This year alone, some 21 people have been killed in a spate of attacks that have seen senior political figures in Kakamega record statements with the police.

The butchered boy, Malik Murunga, is said to have held a candid discussion with his mother, hours before he was actually murdered.

The boy would tell his mother that he was not scared of death should it come to him at any time. Oblivious to him was that he would meet his death in one of the most bizarre ways.

Malik died just a day to his birthday as the mother was going up and about in preparation.

“On the eve of the attack, my son had told me that he was not scared of death since he was at peace with God,” Ms Miriam Kaluki ( Malik’s mother) narrated.

In the death that sent shockwaves across the nation, Malik was stabbed multiple times on the belly, exposing his intestines to the floor.

Before that, Ms Kaluki is said to have found a huge crowd in her home after she came back from prayers at a nearby mosque.

Bewildered, she would inquire what the huge group was doing in her home, only to find his son Malik breathing his last breaths.

Passersby narrated to reporters that they had heard shrieks from an unfinished house in the home and on a closer look, they spotted Malik writhing in pain with his intestines splattered on the floor.

Unsure of what to do, the neighbours would gather there watching the boy’s life slip through his hands.

It was not until Malik’s mother came when she struggled to carry her fatally injured son to a nearby hospital.

Until his death, Malik was a standard one pupil at Bulimbo Star Academy in Matungu.
