What you need to know about the stadium set to host Harambee Stars AFCON matches

Harambee Stars will be making a return to Africa Cup of Nations set for Egypt in June after  15 years of absence.

Sebastian Migne charges are in Pool C which has Senegal Algeria, Tanzania and they will be playing  at  30 June Stadium, also known as  Air Defense.

The 30 June Stadium is used mostly for football matches but can host athletics. It is located in Cairo and was built by the Egyptian Air Defense Forces. The stadium is the main venue of the Air Defense Sport Village.

The stadium has a capacity of 30,000and it is one of the venues of the Egyptian Premier League. It is the home ground of the Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids F.C.

Twenty-two football fans died on 8 February 2015 in a confrontation with the police at the gates of Egyptian stadium during a league match between two Cairo clubs, Zamalek and Enppi. The death toll was expected to rise.

Most of the dead were suffocated when the crowd stampeded after police used tear gas to clear the fans trying to force their way into the stadium.
