The newly constructed Waiyaki Way-Red Hill link road could just be the government’s early Christmas gift to Nairobians.
The Sh3 Billion road that is nearing completion is posed to work towards decongesting Nairobi, reducing traffic while opening up Nairobi suburb areas for businesses and settlement.
According to Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) general manager for design and construction John Mwatu, the road will work towards easening the burden of traffic especially.
“Traffic will be distributed across the network, with improved traffic flows, and the local community will benefit from reduced traffic volumes,” said Mr Mwatu.

Presently, motorists from Westlands have to go round estates on their way to Ruaka, which is now host to Two Rivers Mall.
However, the five-kilometre dual road is set to cut travel time and distance between Ruaka, Kiambu, to Waiyaki Way, Westlands.

The Waiyaki Way-Red Hill Road includes separated junctions on Kyuna road, Spring Valley Road, Kitisuru Road, Peponi Road and Lower Kabete Road.
Separation is the method of aligning a junction of two or more intersecting roads at different heights so that they will not disrupt the traffic flow on other transit routes when they cross each other.
