The ongoing probe into the Fake Gold Scandal continues to elicit different views from a number of Kenyans and Political leaders. Well, the views differ depending on the political side of the divide one belongs to.

The Gold Scam has already taken a Political twist with leaders from Ruto’s camp accusing those in Odinga’s camp of being Political conment turned business conmen.

They have called for the arrests of Raila Odinga, Wetangula and Matiang’i who they believe know a lot about the Gold Scam.

Calls to have arrests made have now been echoed by a number of Legislators from the Mt Kenya region.

The leaders have called for the immediate arrest of persons behind the 30 billion Gold scandal regardless of their status in the society.

Kieni Legislator, Kanini Kega said the arrest and prosecution of the culprits would help salvage Kenya’s name abroad.

Their sentiments followed reports of a complaint filed the United Arab Emirates royal family on the scam.

Speaking in Kiambu, the leaders called on the police to hasten investigations and called politicians to keep off the matter.

The Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji directed the police to investigate the leaked audio where a voice similar to that of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was heard conversing with a Dubai based contact over the gold.

Detectives are said to have narrowed down to six suspected masterminds of the fake gold scandal.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji Saturday directed the Inspector General (IG) of Police to expedite the ongoing investigations into the fake gold scams and forward the resultant investigation file(s) to him within seven days the report from which appropriate action will be taken.

In a statement, the DPP said claims and circulation through social media of a telephone conversation between two persons relating to an ongoing investigation into an incident of fake gold found within the city are alarmist and may unnecessarily cause disaffection.

“ My attention has been drawn to an audio clip making the rounds on social media, in which an apparent telephone conversation between two speakers, allegations are made suggesting that certain information had been conveyed or relayed to HE the President, former Prime Minister and CS Matiang’i, and that a discussion had been held between the eminent personalities.” He said.

“Such claims and their circulation through social media and specifically, leaked phone recordings in today’s age of real-time borderless publishing are alarmist and may needlessly cause disaffection.” He added.
