Midiwo blusts DCI over Wetangula’s travel to China despite being a suspect

Former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has now expressed his concern following the ongoing fake Gold Scam which has put the BuSenator Moses Wetangula on the spot.

According to Midiwo, It is not fair that Senator Wetangula was allowed to travel outside the country even after he was implicated to have been one of the suspects in the ongoing fake gold Scandal.

While speaking during a political panel discussion Midiwo said, “How is somebody who is on the radar of the DCI in the name of Wetangula left to go through the same airport where the gold disappeared to go to Hong Kong.” Said Midiwo

In addition, he said it was not right as much as he was on official duty with the Senate to board a plane and leave yet he is spending tax payer’s money. He further noted that the senator being a suspect he should have written a statement.

Wetangula was put on the spot after an audio leaked on social media where he was heard conversing with an Arab man negotiating on the security of the gold.

However, the Ford Kenya spokesperson Dr Eseli Simiyu said that Senator Wetangula was called by the Royal family because they know each other from the past which seems to be too good to be true.

Wetangula who is currently on an official Senate duty in Hong Kong where he is attending the International Anti Corruption Conference has not released any statement commenting on the matter.

The DCI has however launched an investigation to find out his role in the gold scandal that saw the Dubai royal family lose Sh400 million.

The leaked audio in which a man purported to be Mr Wetang’ula is heard mentioning the names of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to assure someone presumed to be a member of the royal family that all is well and that the gold consignment would be delivered.
