Vihiga United is the last barrier standing in between Gor Mahia and a third consecutive Kenya Premier League title. Hassan Oktay’s side needs a win on Wednesday to win what will be their 18th League crown and their 6th in 9 years.

K’Ogallo is head and shoulders above any other team in the league and as the saying goes, the table does not lie. They started the season on a sour note by losing their first match against Bandari United and were unconvincing in their next few matches but boy did they recover spectacularly!

Despite playing on four fronts, the quality in the squad ensured that he can rotate his team without altering with the quality of performances. Gor Mahia reached the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederations Cup and perhaps could have gone further without the in house wrangles that affected their preparations ahead of the this with RS Berkane.

Fresh off a comfortable Mashemeji derby win against AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia will be eager to put this one to bed early and it would be no surprise should Hassan Oktay start with the same line-up that was so effective against the Leopards.

Nicholas Kipkirui bagged himself a brace and an assist in the derby while Jacques Tuyisenge grabbed a goal too. The defending Champions have only lost twice in 24 League matches.

Vihiga United, on the other hand, is deep in relegation trouble and in desperate need of a win but have only a single victory in 13 outings. There is little hope they might bag all three points on Wednesday but stranger things have happened in football.

Gor Mahia’s sole objective is walking out of the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos as Champions for the third consecutive season. The match kicks off at 4.15 pm and we will have all the details as the action happens on the pitch.
