Popular Youtuber and Bake Awards Nominee Joanna Kinuthia just landed in Shanghai, China a few days ago. The bubbly make-up guru has come a long way in her youtube career landing her major gigs and sponsorships from the world’s leading brands.
Her popularity has brought her massive success in her business venture ‘Joanna Cosmetics’ which is a lipstick and eye-shadows make-up line she launched late last year.
Upon her arrival at China, she announced that the trip is sponsored for work by her cosmetics line. While play will also be involved, the beauty has gone to the land of our ‘debtors’ to work as there’ll be a huge beauty fair, form connections and she announced that big things are coming.
While she continues to share her escapades in China, the beauty has revealed that she is experiencing some strange form of racism. As she has been on a city bus tour today, the Chinese have been taking every opportunity to take photos of her.
While this could be flattering to some, and she admits it made them feel like celebrities and Kim Kardashian at first, they have slowly come to realize that there’s an underlying meaning why it’s happening.
Apparently the Chinese are taking pictures of them because they are Black people. To make matters worse, they found out that the pictures are then posted on Chinese Socials like ‘We Chat’ and they are labeled ‘Monkeys’ on there.
This would truly anger any person who is racially discriminated like that. But if you follow Joanna, you know she’s all about good vibes and positivity. To make good out of a bad situation, since the negative attention doesn’t seem like it’s stopping anytime, she is considering charging the Chinese for these pictures and making money from it. Thinks just like a business person.
