Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt is currently the hottest property in the world football after his excellent show in the Champions League competition.
The Dutchman has been hitting the headline over the past few days with several clubs scrambling to sign the defender.
Among the clubs who have shown their interest include; Manchester United, Liverpool, PSG among others.
However, Barcelona have been the favourites and had even made an offer for the player. The player himself also had declared his dream of playing for Barca alongside his teammate Frenkie De Jong who had been signed back in January.
But he had also mentioned after winning the Eredivisie title that no agreement had been made, giving hope for Manchester United who thought that Ligt could agree to their offer.
Barcelona have been in talks with De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola over a move to the Nou Camp.
It had been reported that the La Liga champions would refuse to increase their initial offer for the Dutchman but it appears an agreement is now in place.
De Ligt was also spotted in Barcelona last week after winning their Eredivisie title.
Manchester United and every other team that have been salivating for the player will now have to forget about the Dutchman at least this season.
Barca are now likely to switch their focus to Antoine Griezmann, who has confirmed he will leave Atletico Madrid this summer.
