Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Ms. Racheal Shebesh on Monday censured police in Kisumu for releasing gang rape criminals who have been terrorizing residents of a local suburb.
Sbehesh regretted that such criminals have in the past been apprehended only to be given police bonds.
Speaking at Nyalenda where she was accompanied by Kisumu Woman Representative Rosa Buyu, Shebesh said members of the gang are well known to the police, chiefs and their assistants.
“I personally do not believe in police bond, such people should be apprehended and taken to court,” she said.
Shebesh said many girls and women have been harassed by the marauding gang. Buyu said the gang members are well known and should be apprehended by police.
She said some victims fear to report the same for fear of reprisals. Women and girls narrated that the gang operates in a group of five and have been attacking women in the wee hours of the morning.
They said the gang who are armed with pangas and crude weapons attack in the wee hours of the morning.
