English giants Manchester United have long been named as keen admirers of the talents of the African, with the Red Devils’ abysmal defensive record this past season no doubt set to see Ed Woodward and co. target reinforcements at the heart of the club’s backline.
But, as per the aforementioned report from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira this afternoon, United’s opening summer bid for Napoli’s crown jewel has been firmly knocked back by the Serie A outfit.
United’s offer, said to have been worth a hefty 110 million Euro, was not enough to convince notoriously-stubborn Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis into parting with his side’s star defender, with Schira adding that the Italian patron has no intention of allowing Koulibaly to leave over the coming months:
