It’s terrible times for United as Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has dampened speculation that he could leave the Bundesliga champions this summer.

Reports have linked the Polish international with moves to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but speaking after Bayern’s 5-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend, he said:

“I have many more years to go to the end of my career. I hope I win many titles here with Bayern.”

Lewandowski wants the sort of farewell that Bastian Schweinsteiger was given before he left the club for United, but he thinks he will need to stay for longer to get such a reception:

“I also witnessed the departure of Bastian Schweinsteiger. Such a farewell is of course nice. But I have to work a bit more.”

The 30-year-old’s current contract expires in 2021 but he has yet to sign an extension despite another stellar goalscoring season.

Lewandowski hit the back of the net 38 times in 46 games, and also provided 13 assists. The striker’s goal record in Germany is quite remarkable with 202 goals in 290 Bundesliga games for both Bayern and previous club Borussia Dortmund.

The Polish star’s record at international level is almost as impressive, having scored 56 in 103 caps for his country.
