Mbappe, fresh from being named the Ligue 1 Player of the Year, has been involved in a year-long battle with Messi for the Golden Shoe.
The award is given to the player who scores the most goals in each of Europe’s top divisions.
Currently, Messi leads the way as he seeks the award for a sixth time having scored 36 times as Barcelona clinched the La Liga title.
Mbappe is four goals behind with one game remaining in France as PSG travel to Reims on Friday night and has warned the Argentine the race is not over.
He told Mundo Deportivo: “I tell myself that even if I lose, I lose to Messi, one of the best players in history.
“To think that I could have it until the last game is also pride. But this id not over!”

Mbappe has scored three hat-tricks this season, including a four-goal haul against Lyon and bagging another one is not out of the question against the side who finished ninth in Ligue 1.
Since the inception of the Golden Shoe in 1967 no PSG player has ever won the award as Mbappe looks to make history.
In fact, a Ligue 1 player has only received the award once when Yugoslavian Josip Skoblar won it in 1971 while at Marseille.

Should Mbappe win the award it could prove to be his last hurrah at the Parc Des Princes.
After receiving his individual accolade at the French football wards last night he suggested during his speech that he may consider a move away.
“I want to thank all of the people who put together this league. I succeeded in adapting in my first year, to change position this year,” said Mbappe.
“There were some disappointments, but that is part of football. This is a very important moment for me.
“I am arriving at the second turning point in my career. I have discovered an enormous amount of things here.
“It is maybe the moment to have more responsibilities, maybe at PSG, with pleasure, or elsewhere for a new project. In any case thanks everyone!”
