Detectives drawn from the DCI have resuscitated a hopeless case involving the gruesome murder of a motorcyclist badly injuring his passenger.

Reports have since emerged that pick-up truck occupants, Benjamin Odhiambo and Vincent Owuor were at the centre of an early morning gruesome murder of one Ronald Otieno.

Police accounts have since shown that the late Ronald had sped past the pick-up trucks in the wee hours of the morning when the Toyota Hilux driver sped and hit them from behind on the Sigomre-Ugunja road.

From the impact, Ronald, 26, was flung hard onto the tarmac and run over once, while his brother was hurled several metres away, where he crash-landed into a ditch.

Police statements say one of the occupants disembarked from the vehicle and walked over to the ditch. Satisfied that Ochieng’, 20, was dead (he wasn’t) he went to where Ronald lay sprawled on the tarmac, squirming in anguish. He had survived the impact.

Police believe that the driver reversed the vehicle and ran over Ronald several times, crushing him to a pulp and making sure he had quietened any shred of life in him. The vehicle then sped off from the scene.

Police in the area would be alerted at 5:30 am on the murder which happened shortly after 2 am.

However, Ronald’s brother feigned death to avoid being killed by the assailants but stayed awake watching as all these happened, albeit with much pain.

It was from his account that police would rule out a case of hit-and-run and book the case again as vehicular murder.

The pick-up truck would later be traced to Kikuyu where it was impounded and investigators started with the investigations.

From underneath the truck, police discovered extensive damages and human tissue droplets that had smeared on the bumpers.

Upon tests, the police proved the car was the same one which caused the murder in Siaya and arrested all the occupants who are now facing murder charges.
