A man who built a road for his community in Kaganda has been appreciated for his good work. Corporates, among them Kahuti Water and Sanitation Company last week connected Nicholas Muchami’s home with water on directive from Water and Sanitation Principal Secretary Joseph Irungu.

He built a road where there was none, using a hoe, a spade and an axe. There are no massive excavators, forklift trucks or roller machines. Only his hands and undying determination.

A youth leader, Phillip Kinyungu took to Facebook to highlight efforts made by Mr Muchami to connect residents in Hugo village with Kaganda market. The route the community and school children were using to access public offices was blocked 15 years ago.

Muchami, who is a security guard at Kaganda Primary School, worked for about eight hours daily to curve the road around a hill. Muchami woke up early and working relentlessly from sunrise to sunset to build the road that was to be a shortcut for the villagers to go to Kaganda shopping centre and for children to access Kaganda Primary School. In eight days, Muchami did a 1.5 kilometres section that connected Hugo village with Kaganda ACK Church. And a commercial bank has promised to buy him a heifer.
