Kenyans React as Ukambani leaders signs Historic agreement

History was made on Saturday when the three Ukambani leaders; Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua, Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana came together for the first joint Machakos, Kitui and Makueni meeting.

The three leaders met at Governor Mutua’s office where they signed the South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB) agreement. The bloc, the leaders said, will create a platform for joint development investments and resource mobilization for wealth creation to rollback the poverty ravaging the region.

Governor Mutua said the bloc would provide a platform for all leaders from the region to work towards a common goal irrespective of the regional geopolitics.

“Today is a historic day in the fight against poverty in Ukambani. The signing of this South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB)agreement provides us, the three Governors a chance to jointly provide rapid, result based leadership for the great people of Ukambani.” Said Governor Mutua

Governor Kibwana termed SEKEB as a unique outfit because while similar blocs by other counties comprise mainly of governors, SEKEB incorporates elders, church leaders, professionals and all interests across the different social and economic sectors.

In what is viewed as a strategy in preparation for the 2022 political alignments, a section of Facebook and Twitter users applauded the move by the three Ukambani governors expressing their happiness saying that unity was the only thing that could unite Ukambani region.
