Its a wrap! Mancheter City Captain Vincent Kompany announces his exit from Man City

Manchester City captain and Belgian defender, Vincent Kompany has announced that he will leave the club this summer in an emotional Facebook post to fans, confirming that “the time has come for me to go now”.

The defender has decided to call time after a grand 11-year association with the Club having won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and two Community Shields and is returning to his homeland, Belgium to take charge of Anderlecht as player-manager after request from the club owner which he has played for as a young boy from the age of 6.

The Belgian defender leaves the Etihad after 11 seasons and 360 appearances, having this season led City to a domestic treble with the 33-year-old’s decision coming in less than 24 hours after the former Anderlecht and Hamburg star lifted the FA Cup at Wembley, after City’s 6-0 thumping of Watford.

The outgoing Captain has played a total of 360 times and scoring 20 goals during his stay at Etihad the recent one being the screameragainstLeicester City that came in the wee hours of the match.

The 33-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal with the Belgian club, where he scored five goals in 73 appearances between 2003 to 2006.
