Here’s why you should Sleep on the Left-side more often

This is because there’s more to the quality of sleep you’re getting than its duration. Sleep difficulty can be caused by a number of things, ranging from eating or drinking the wrong things before bed to our sleep position.

Sleeping is very important to the human body as it makes the body relax. There are some sleeping positions that can make you have terrible nights and others that can make you have the best sleep ever.

Some people sleep on their back, stomach, right-hand side and some on their left. Among them, sleeping on the left is the best position. Here are some of the benefits of sleeping on your left-hand side:

1. It ensures a healthy heart

If you are suffering from any heart-related problem, sleeping on the left-hand side will reduce the problem. Sleeping on your left side improves the blood flow to the heart hence a healthy heart. Sleeping on your left side improves circulation of blood to the heart. The theory is that gravity can facilitate both lymph drainage toward the heart, as well as circulation away from the heart.

2. It is good for digestion and heartburn

Sleeping on your left-hand side will help improve the digestion process and help reduce any heartburn that may occur. This is because the food moves smoothly from the small intestines to the large intestines. Lying on the right side may aggravate various symptoms. So, if you’re struggling with heart burn, lie down on your left side for 10 minutes  to alleviate the symptoms.

3. Good to the lymphatic system

The lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste products and toxins from the body. Since the lymph nodes are found on the left side, it is, therefore, advisable that you sleep on your left so that the waste products can be easily removed.
