Senator Malala fighting for his life at police custody-Lawyer

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala’s lawyer has said that the health status of the senator isn’t good after being denied the chance to take his daily medication.

Malala was forced to take a night at the police cell after being accused of being the mastermind of Matungu killing.

His lawyer Charles Malalah claims the Senator has been denied access to diabetic and High Blood Pressure medicines while in custody, in Kisumu, a fact that has seen his health gradually deteriorate.

He was intercepted in Kisumu on Friday by DCI officers and driven to Kisumu Central police Station under tight security.  During his arrest on Friday, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala caused a scene at a hotel lobby in Kisumu as detectives tried to compel him to accept his fate.

There was drama at Sovereign Hotel as the legislator challenged the detectives for targeting him with numerous arrests. “You cannot be sending the same askaris to arrest me five times in one year. So, if I die you are the ones who should be investigated,” he barked at the officers.

Pointing at one of the sleuths, Malala claimed, “especially you, during most of my arrests you have been there. “Now you are telling me you have been transferred. Are you being transferred everywhere I go?” he posed.

The Senator further intimated that his arrest was politically motivated implicated Deputy President William Ruto in his claims. “Go tell William Samoei Ruto we have intelligence and we have evidence of what happened, we were briefed.

“You cannot do this, because I think differently from them. I have not joined Jubilee, I will not join thieves. Even if you intimidate me,” he maintained.

All this while, the detectives listened to his claims holding firm that the legislator was under arrest. “Tell me now are you arresting me?” Malala asked, to which the officer retorted, “Yes, you are now arrested. Let’s go”

“Over what. What are you arresting me over?” with the DCI detective responded, “over what is happening in Matungu.”

Malala was driven to Kisumu Central police Station under tight security where he questioned over the incidences.
