Details of Uhuru Ruto State House Meeting amid JKIA fiasco with Kibicho

Deputy President William Ruto confrontation with Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho is reportedly among the reasons President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday called an urgent state house meeting with the deputy president.

The two are said to have almost gone physical with Ruto accusing the powerful PS of sabotaging his country wide trips. Dr Ruto is said to have scolded Kibicho for over 15 minutes and this might have called the attention of the president.

And at State House, Uhuru and Ruto addressed Kenya Private Alliance team together before retreating for a closed-door meeting. It’s not clear whether or not they discussed about the scuffle.

“The President said he will continue spearheading the war on corruption and welcomed the support of the EU in the struggle adding that his determination to restore integrity in the country will never be derailed,” State House reported .

“On national cohesion, President Kenyatta reiterated his commitment to building a more cohesive and peaceful country and promised to intensify efforts to unite Kenyans in coming days,” it said.

Dr Ruto, sources said, was toned down by Chief of Defense Forces General Samson Mwathethe, who was also among those paraded at JKIA on Wednesday to receive Uhuru from Rwanda trip. DP Spokesman Emmanuel Talam has refuted the claim.

“That JKIA story is fake. It is a creation of rumour-peddlers of fake news keen to sustain a hopeless narrative,” said Mr Tallam.

At Narok on Friday, Dr Kibicho, a political technocrat, also denied knowledge about the scuffle, arguing that Ruto is his senior in government.

“How can I have an exchange with the Deputy President? That is a cheap allegation that does not hold any sense,” said the PS of the claims first reported by People Daily.
