3 Important Facts a UTI conscious woman should know

Chances are, you like many women have had a urinary tract infection or UTI but don’t worry, it’s a common problem and there are things you can do to try and prevent it.

1.Hydrate!

Excuse me, We will not say this again! Drinking lots of water is one of the best ways to prevent UTIs. The most common cause of UTIs is bacteria that can invade the urethra (the tube which carries urine out of the body,) and into the bladder. Drinking plenty of water flushes bacteria out of the bladder at a higher rate. 11 glasses of water a day will help keep those nasty UTIs away.

2.Pee after sex

Whatever happens. Pee. After. Sex !Because UTIs are generally caused by bacteria in the bladder, peeing after sex will help flush bacteria from the bladder.  During sex there is a lot of shall we say, activity in that area, bacteria can often find it’s way into your bladder. Peeing after sex will help flush it and ensure you’re good to go for round 2.

Please, don’t ever do the opposite. Just don’t. Wiping from front to back after urinating and after a bowel movement will ensure bacteria from your anus does not spread to your vagina or urethra and bladder.
