LGBT will leave no stone unturned, they are already fighting for their rights in Kenya, they are on our TV’s and now even the place where things looked normal, the comics, they are now looking into including them. There is no place to run, no place to hide they want to be included in everything.

Now, they have come out loud and clear from that one scene in Avengers Endgame which saw directors Anthony and Joe Russo attempt LGBT representation in the Marvel universe (with a cameo of Joe, indeed), one Marvel writer has called for more of them.

Brandon T Snider says that the community should expect more of scenes in the comic programs.  Brandon is known for his work for both Infinity War The Cosmic Quest Volume One and Volume Two.

Having also worked on also dozens of books for both Marvel and DC comic universes, the writer – who has also appeared as an actor on Inside Amy Schumer – wants readers to immerse themselves in the Marvel world where they feel included.

While Marvel Studios has pledged to introduce us to new characters that are LGBTQ+ in coming movies, hinting it’ll be one we already know, and with Tessa Thompson confirming she plays Valkyrie as a bisexual woman, Brandon has gone one more and introduced LGBT characters into his comics that now exist in the universe forever.

He said: ‘LGBTQ people, I am one, and they’re just as much a part of any world as anyone else, so if I’m going to create new characters and do something interesting and make this material unique, then my thinking was “why don’t I add some characters to the stories who, in this case, give it a little more shape?”.’

‘Although we don’t get to dive into their backstories because of time and space, it was great that I got the chance to introduce them and now they live there. So if anyone wants to take them and give them a life on screen, they can. It’s also good to see the representation for a younger audience.

His Cosmic Quests are designed to act as ‘companion pieces’ to the Infinity Saga of the MCU and he wants his fans to think of them as supplementary reading – not as spoiler pieces. Important difference there, kids. ‘The main narrative of the MCU happens in the films, but the characters and worlds are very rich.

So Marvel are like “let’s tell some stories about the other characters that popular this universe people find excited and interesting”,’ he said. ‘[In] Volume Two you have these science characters from the Thor movies who people might be like “huh, why are they involved in this big thing?”.

Characters like Darcy Lewis, she’s a huge fan favourite and I didn’t know this until I started working on the book. There are people who write Darcy fan fiction, so it was cool to be able to give them a little more closure on what she’s doing. Who knows if she’ll ever pop up again. ‘These particular books are where we can develop these characters we don’t get to see as much of, like Captain America. He added: ‘I look at it more as an opportunity, adding new characters and stuff like that keeps me interested and keeps things moving along.
