Where did PiliPili the ‘Morale’ hit maker go to?
Kenyan Veteran Musician Peter Gatonye popularly known as PiliPili is one of the celebrated artists whose music continues to live on despite the long music absence.
PiliPili is an award-winning musician of back in the day, although his silent exit from the music scene left his fans frequently demanding for more of his talent.
He is an award winner in Kisima and of Chaguo La Teeniez held in East Africa. Pilipili’s debut album “Fungua Mlango” was released in late 2005 produced by Clemo through Calif Records in Nairobi. He also worked with great music producers like Tedd Josiah, Chris Adwar, Ogopa DJ’s among others.
The singer is popular for his songs ‘Morale’ his collabo with Lady S ‘Ukimwona’ and collabo with JuaCali dubbed ‘Kamata Dame’ among others.
His fans have confessed to missing him in the music industry and lauding him for creating a foundation in the Kenyan Music Industry.
Despite the music silence, PiliPili has been performing in several gigs giving a taste of the old school music.
On whether he plans on a comeback, PiliPili revealed in an interview last year that once a musician always a musician and this ruled out the speculations that his musical career is over.
The Singer says that when music runs in the blood, then it is so hard for someone to call it quits.Other reports mentioned his family and commitment is what slowed down his music career.
PiliPili has a record label ‘Chilli Ink’ and through this he mentioned that he has nurtured alot of talents not just in Kenya but in Tanzania as well as Nigerian.
The Musician also said that he decided to keep the label lowkey so that it does not seem as if it is outshining the musicians.
Despite the last year hyp, PiliPili has still not released any new track as fans keep waiting on more.
Apart from music, the singer has severally been spotted in philanthropic works and this is indeed admirable and a notable effort.
