The war between Education CS George Magoha and KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion seems to have escalated to another level after the SG accused Magoha of insulting teachers from morning to evening.
KNUT and the Education Ministry have been at crossroads over the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Sossion has urged teachers to continue using the old curriculum because the CBC is meant to kill public schools.
Magoha, on the other hand, has maintained that the CBC rollout is unstoppable and he will crush anyone opposed to it.
“I don’t play politics and will crush anybody who will play politics with the new curriculum.” The newly appointed CS said on Wednesday.
Sossion has said that Magoha and other Ministers will fail the Jubilee government.
‘We have seen arrogant Ministers who have no respect. And the Ministry of Education has been unfortunate with arrogant ministers who are not electable anywhere in the world. The Magohas of this world are arrogant and will fail this government. ” Sossion said as he warned the President that they will not work with a minister who does not respect them.
He urged parliament to change the constitution that allows only MPs to be appointed as Ministers. He gave examples of the Late George Saitoti, Mutula Kilonzo and Prof. Sam Ongeri as exemplary Education Ministers who never insulted teachers.

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga is among the people who have blasted Magoha over his ‘crushing’ remarks on the implementation of CBC.
“And what in heaven’s name do you think you have done by this utterance? You are “playing politics.” GO AHEAD AND CRUSH THYSELF, THEN!,” Mutunga asked.
Mutunga went further to add that Magoha was playing politics, asking him to go ahead and crush himself first before others.
I am with SG Sossion on this one. Some of the language i heard Prof. Magoha employ yesterday is simply unacceptable for a public servant. @dailynation https://t.co/ic3TYJK3wz
