The Banjuka hitmaker, Dennis Kagia, famously known as DNA, is mourning the death of his grandmother. He broke the sad news through his Instagram account, where he wrote; “RIP Grandma.” He didn’t provide further information on the cause of death.

This comes after he lost his son, who drowned in a swimming pool. The young Jamaal; a grade three student at Kitengela International school, met his untimely death after drowning in the school’s swimming pool.

He was however pronounced dead after arriving at the Nairobi Women’s hospital in Lang’ata; where he was rushed to for treatment. Having come from a Christian and Muslim family, the late Jamal respect was accorded to both families.

A tribute service was held at the Montezuma Chapel at 9.30am before heading to South C Mosque for final rights. The 9-year-old was later laid to rest at Langata cemetery.

He had taken a break from music but later made a come back changing his name to DNA Mister Dreams. He said that he has ventured into many other things besides just being an artiste.

“I decided to rebrand because the name DNA can be ambiguous in Google searches. I’m evolving to many things, I’m not only just an artiste but also getting into production. Now, I’m doing art which encompasses the whole scope from production to marketing to strategy.”
