National Environment Management Authority, NEMA has dived into action to avert possible deaths in Nairobi.
NEMA has shut down with immediate effect an edible oil manufacturer Giloil based in Industrial Area, Nairobi for discharging untreated wastewater into Nairobi river.
According to the environment agency, all manufacturing companies are required to have an elaborate pre-treatment system for discharging waste into the ecosystem.

The Wednesday closure of Giloil Industry brings to a total of 15 factories closed down for breaching effluent-discharge rules.
Thank you NEMA for shutting down Giloil Limited in Industrial Area for failure to put in place pre-treatment system and discharging untreated waste water. They should also be slammed with a hefty penalty, we shouldn't tolerate investors messing up with our environment.

This sad move also puts at stake the future of employees who solely depend on the company for their daily bread.
Please @nemakenya and @MikeSonko provide these companies with a proper waste disposal mechanism and then re-open them. Our youth need these jobs
