We are sorry baba over heckling-Anyang Nyong’o

Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o has apologized to opposition leader Raila Odinga over the heckling in Muhoroni yesterday.

In a tough statement to media houses on Wednesday, May 15, Nyong’o lashed at the locals for rejecting development projects saying their actions were politically motivated.

“It is regrettable that a small band of engineered naysayers who have deliberately decided to resist development in the county as a whole purely for political mileage decided to embarrass our guests,” said Nyong’o. “We shall not be deterred from continuing with changing Kisumu’s economy for the better to please a few visionless people,” he added.

Echoing his sentiments was Muhoroni MP Onyango K’Oyoo who was in Botswana during Raila’s visit to his constituency. K’Oyoo stated that it was wrong for the youth to embarrass the former Prime Minister.

“This is regrettable and should not have happened especially for our party leader. We condemn this in the strongest words possible,” he maintained.

“They protested that the land, 500-acres, which would be set aside for economic use, was their ancestral land that had been reverted to the defunct Kisumu Municipal Council after they were moved due to constant flooding. They want historical compensation for the land,” he stated.
