When Ngunjiri Wambugu started barking “kieleweke” slogan, he was a lone ranger, and appeared more of a fresher parliamentarian, creating unnecessary commotion for attention

And as political experts say, in politics there are no stray dogs, like those roaming the city, those which Sonko intends to kill at a cost of one hundred million. In politics, every mongrel you encounter barking around is someone’s dog.

Critics were fast to dismiss him as a latecomer to Jubilee who was still apologetic to his former party, ODM. His, appeared an isolated rebellion against the DP which wasn’t headed anywhere It wasn’t very difficult to predict that he wasn’t his own man

Wambugu isn’t politically weighty enough to dictate the pace. Politically, he isn’t an elephant but a mere squirrel and we all know every time this rodent suddenly gains some rare confidence, when it has spotted a hole, nearby

The hole that gave him confidence was the fact that he was doing someone else’ errands. In small doses, I am being vindicated.

The man was on a mission to test the waters. The term “kieleweke” has since made its way into the newsrooms and is now the official tag of rebellion against the DP, within Jubilee, where it was a foregone conclusion that its core constituency of Rift Valley and Central will transfer the support they had for Uhuru to Ruto

Ngunjiri’s one-man army has since gained traction to become a juggernaut, central to all political discourses

If history is anything to go by, the rebellion was bound to happen. Owino Misiani captured it well in his song “bim en bim”. Someone said to tame a guinea fowl, you must use a grain of sand to block it’s ear because if you don’t once she will hear her relatives chirp in the bushes, she will fly away, on a one-way ticket, to join them, and you will never see her again

Now Ngunjiri is chirping, from the bushes and all the “kanga”, tamed by tanga tanga, have raised their head, to listen and establish the right direction, they are required to go

They will all fly away leaving Daktari stranded. He must do some serious patch ups across the country, to refill the gaps. History never repeats itself but historical factors bear striking similarities and Fantine who has cared to check, has, of course, noticed that Kenya’s political history is a graveyard of betrayals, which are as old as the nation itself

The mantle rest on Ruto’s shoulder. He can choose to either extend that olive branch, oil Wambugu’s mouth or leave him to complete his destructions. A day in politics is longer, only time will tell
