Sonko To Sell One of His Beach Plots For the Sake of Harambee Stars

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is known to be a man of his words. He has time and again lived up to his “Sonko” tag as he continues to change lives of many Kenyans across the Country.

Governor Sonko has also been so instrumental in promoting the Sporting Culture in Kenya. He has helped clubs like Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.

He has also time and again helped the National Men’s Football team Harambee Stars.

The Governor is also putting up a state of the art Stadium in Dandora and it is expected to be complete in August this year.

Sonko’s generousity finally paid huge dividends when Kenya’s Kabaddi team, a team sponsored by Sonko to the World Championships won a bronze Medal in Taiwan.

After the Kabaddi team’s great exploits in Taiwan, Sonko has promised to give the Harambee Stars 20 Million Shillings should they qualify for the quarter finals in the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

“Once more congrats to our Kabaddi team. I have never given a false promise in my leadership since I joined politics. I have been doing it for Gor Mahia, AFC leopards and even Harambee stars in so many occasions. Now you can take this to the bank “If Harambee stars makes us proud by qualifying at least for the quarter finals in the Africa cup of Nations in Egypt, I will sell one of my beach plots or take a loan against it and reward them with 20,000,000/=” Said Sonko.

Kenya National team coach Sébastien Migné Yesterday named the provisional squads for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will be taking part in for the first time in 15 years.

The coach has also named a 32-man provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Nations Championships qualifiers where Kenya is set to face Burundi in the first round in August 2019.

The AFCON squad largely features players who took part in the qualification phase. Ayub Timbe has also been included in the list, after sitting out the final qualifying match against Ghana through injury.

Enos Ochieng, Joe Waithira, Abdalla Hassan and Kenneth Muguna, meanwhile, highlight players called up to the CHAN squad.

The AFCON bound team is scheduled to jet out to Paris, on May 31, 2019, and has already been booked at the French Rugby Federation, Marcoussis Cedex where they will hold a 19-day residential camp before flying out to Cairo Egypt, on June 19, 2019, in time for the continental showpiece.

Football Kenya Federation has also secured two friendly matches in France, against Madagascar on June 7, and the Gambia a week later, on June 15, 2019.
