A caretaker committee has been named to take charge of the troubled Oloolaiser Water and Sewerage Company.

Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has named Ngong’ Municipality Chairman Architect Patrick Mugo as the chairman of the new committee.

He has also named Oloolaiser’s acting Managing Director Dickson Ntikoisa as the secretary of the committee.

In a press statement today, the Governor named Solomon Kereku, Moses Meeli, Kakai Kiveu, Eunice Wangari Kamweru, David Kobaai and Elizabeth Sopiato as members of the committee with immediate effect.

“This team will fill the gap left by the disbandment of the former board. We want operations to run uninterrupted and I expect them to convene immediately and start reviewing the inefficiencies identified in the supply of clean water to Kajiado North residents,” said the Governor.

The Governor named the team only four days after dissolving the water company’s board chaired by Samson Kerea.

The embattled board has been accused of failing to pay basic utilities such as electricity, leading to regular power disconnections.

The company’s operations had been declared unsustainable because they charge for water and therefore should be able to pay their operational liabilities.

Recently, the County bailed the water company after paying Sh 2 Million to pay part of the Sh 17 Million power arrears.
