A witness said Onyango sold land to give his lover money to start a business. Onyango had separated from his first wife.“I receive a call from his neighbour who told me my brother killed himself,” Ouma said. He added that Onyango first differed with his lover on Monday after he asked the woman for money. “The woman is in Mombasa. When my brother asked her for lunch money she told him to use the money he spends on alcohol.”

A witness said by the time residents arrived, the fire had already spread. It took people time to break the steel door. Migori police commander Joseph Nthenge said police are investigating. The body was taken to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary.
