Gor Mahia on the verge of writing history as they keep for life KPL trophy a third time

The green army, Gor Mahia as they are known is set to retain the Kenya Premier League title for a record third year time in a row even with four games remaining for the season to end. The K’Ogalo’s ardent enthusiasts can now rest easy as Gini Waseretain.

It has not been an easy win for the club that has been involved in a number of other matches in the continent as well as in the East African region.

And despite having a very massive following, the club has been without an official sponsor for a record of five years since their last sponsor Tuzo pulled out of their sponsorship deal from 2014.

If the green army retains the trophy for the third time in a row it will definitely mean that they are going to keep it in their cabinets for life which will be the third time.

The first time Gor Mahia won the Kenya Premier League for a record of three seasons in a row was back in the early 80s.

This was in in the seasons of 1983, 1984 and again in 1985 when they kept the trophy for life in their cabinets, a fete no other team in the KPL has never attained. The same was repeated recently a second time in the 2013,2014 and 2015 seasons.

Gor Mahia have four matches remaining without counting their fixture with Nzoia Sugar are against their bitter rivals AFC Leopards, Mathare United Posta Ranger and Vihiga United and the season will be a total wrap.

Out of thee four It is only Mathare and AFC who could soil the green army’s early celebrations but it is nothing to be a tough one for the two sides asGorhas recorded a good number of wins against the Ingwe team.

In their first leg match of the season in Kasarani ended in a 2-0win in favour of Gor Mahia and a repetition of the same is anticipated.
