DCI warns Kenyans and foreigners from this specific scam

Gold BarsAccording to the DCI Kenya, the Gold Scam has now reached alarming levels as unsuspecting foreign nationals are being swindled large amounts of money by the Fraudsters.

Even though the old trick works as long as someone believes in it, fraudsters do employ various methods to target their victims, from the traditional cold calls to using the internet to set their traps.

The sellers will try and lure you to coming to see them just as long as you bring some money with you. Then, in an elaborate web of false documentation and well-greased government individuals you will be quickly separated from your money and lucky to be allowed to leave.

Kenyan authorities have investigated a number of cases. Some of the names are in Uganda and other east African countries.

Targets are shown real gold with certificates of origin.

“It is all an elaborate scam involving a lot of different people. And it seems to convince buyers to the point that they don’t give up easily. They want to know what has happened to their gold rather than realizing that they have been duped,”A source said.
