The daughter of former Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, who was a close ally of ODM Party leader Raila, is fighting for her life at a Harare hospital after being involved in a horror road crash.

Vimbai Tsvangirai, who is a member of parliament for Glenns View South, was involved in the crash at night on her way from Bulawayo where MDC staged debates for its candidates for party positions.

The vehicle had four occupants and was reduced to a mangled wreckage on impact.

Two people lost their lives.

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) spokesperson Jacob Mafume confirmed the grim news.

“We have lost two committed cadres, two pillars of the party. It’s painful, it strikes at the heart. We pray for the strength of the families, and to everyone.

“Vimbai Tsvangirai is in a stable condition, she has been taken to Harare, to the Avenues Clinic, and the other passenger has been discharged. We are praying, and we ask the nation to join us in prayer that the day will not get more tragic.” Mafume said.

Vimbai lost her father to cancer in 2018.

The funeral was attended by Raila Odinga who hailed Tsvangirai as a true patriot and hero of liberation.

Mr Tsvangirai attended a number of ODM functions on the invitation of Mr Odinga.

Raila Odinga had not reacted to the news of the grisly crashes at the time of writing this article.
