A Week Later! Pained De Jong Opens Up, Gives Spurs’ Star A Thumbs Up

Once beaten, twice shy! Have you ever been thoroughly beaten before? What was the feeling?

It is always a memorable moment and because of the pain, you only open up to speak later. This happened to your close friend Ajax FC.

Ajax’s dream of ever clinching the Champions League trophy was shattered by Tottenham Hotspur before their fans at Amsterdam.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in North London, Tottenham went into the return leg against Ajax knowing they had to score to get back into the tie.

The Dutch club found themselves 2-0 up within 35 minutes which made Mauricio Pochettino’s side facing an almost impossible task at half time of requiring three goals in order to progress.

Spurs came to the second half highly-spirited and through Lucas Moura, they managed to make a miraculous and historic comeback and hence proceeded to the final.

Lucas Moura scored all three Tottenham goals, sending Spurs to the final against Liverpool in Madrid.

Moura’s performance was singled out for praise by Ajax’s highly-rated midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The 22-year-old will join Barcelona on July 1st for an initial £65m.

De Jong said, “We were no longer playing football. Everything went long. Then it becomes difficult.

“Spurs also has a lot of physical strength. In the end the game just went wrong. Three times Moura … He is a very good player, very explosive.”

Frenkie de Jong helped his team win their domestic trophy and is set to leave this summer.
