Unwanted! Real Madrid inform Keylor Navas that he is not in their plans for next season

Keylor Navas seems set to depart the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after being told by Real Madrid that he is not in their plans for the 2019/20 campaign.

As such, they have encouraged him to seek out a new side, despite only having signed a contract extension in January, as they hope to achieve an amicable exit.

The initial report came from Jugones on La Sexta, which has since been confirmed by MARCA.

Zinedine Zidane broke the news to the Costa Rican at the end of last week and it left Keylor feeling very upset as he believed that he could fight Thibaut Courtois and become Madrid‘s No.1 goalkeeper once again.

The French coach stated that there was nothing he could do about the situation as the board had already made their decision. Madrid have opted to bet on Courtois, so Keylor must leave the Bernabeu.

This means that Sunday’s game against Real Betis will be his last with Los Blancos. Curiously, it is against the same opponent he would have faced in the event of his departure in August 2015, when Madrid were pushing to sign David de Gea from Manchester United.

Keylor will leave Madrid with three Champions Leagues, one LaLiga Santander title, three Club World Cups and three European Super Cups. There is no doubt: he has been one of Real Madrid‘s best ever goalkeepers.
