Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come to the rescue of pupils of St. Theresia Primary School along Juja Road, who abandoned class and took to the streets to air their grievances over road safety concerns.

The pupils blocked  the  demanding the construction of a footbridge and speed bumps along the busy road.

However, Mike Sonko has directed the County engineers to construct the bumps on Juja road.

“Following recent concerns on the state of Juja road I have directed my Roads and Transport department to immediately construct bumps on Juja road.I have also ordered the county engineers to put road markings on the busy road to reduce cases of road accidents along Juja road”He wrote.

The children have to cross the road every morning and evening when going to school and back home, yet there is no footbridge.

The speeding drivers pose an obvious risk to their lives and the children thus leading to the protests.

The protesting children had been left to roam along the busy and dangerous road by their teachers seemingly without any proper organisation.
