Gor Mahia moved closer to a third consecutive League title with a 2-0 win over second-placed Sofapaka at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday. The win stretches Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run to 16 in the league and leaves them just one win away from retaining their crown.

Sofapaka came into the match knowing that even a win would do little to boost their slim title hopes. John Baraza’s men gave it a go in the first half and pushed the Champions to the limit but could not find a way past their resolute defense. The scores were still level heading into the break.

The Champions elect, however, came int the second half guns blazing and went ahead ten minutes after the restart through Samuel Onyango. The Moi Stadium would erupt yet again in the 76th minute when Talismanic forward Jacques Tuyisenge found the back of the net to ease any nerves that might have been present among the K’Ogallo faithful.

Gor Mahia held on to record a memorable win that leaves them 10 points ahead of their rivals with 6 matches to go.
