So it was all pomp and colour when the name ‘Archie’ was announced as baby Sussex’s label. Even scientist went ahead and predicted how common it will be by 2025 but did you know that the Dutchess give her baby her dead pet’s name?

According to Meghan’s former friend, the Dutchess used to have a cat called Archie – and she believes the Duchess may have named her baby boy after the pet.

The former Suits actress previously shared a video of herself with the cat, although it is believed the moggie has now passed away.

A former close friend of the Duchess told The Sun : “Doria [Meghan’s mum] rescued Archie and he became an important part of the household.

“Meghan loved playing with him and she was always talking about him to her friends.

However, the ex-pal also mooted the idea that Baby Sussex could have been named after the main character of the American comic book Archie.

The Duchess was apparently obsessed with the cartoon character as a youngster, when she used to roam around comic stores with her now-estranged father Thomas.

The ex-pal said: “This could be a little nod to her dad. It was him who instilled that hobby into her, that was their activity together.

“He would drive her around and also surprise her with vintage volumes. She had at least 100. This may be a way to reach out to her dad, even after all that’s happened.”
