What it would mean for Petr Cech if Arsenal and Chelsea meet at Europa finals

If Chelsea and Arsenal qualify to play against each other in the finals of the UEFA Europa League, it will be the first time for English teams to meet against the other for the trophy.

This will also mean that Chelsea will be reaching that fete for the second time while Arsenal who has never won the UEFA Cup or the Europa league will be reaching the height for their fourth time.

All that said, it would be a confusing time and a too much to bear duel for Petr Cech who has won the cup with the Blues and now playing for Arenal.

The legendary 36-years-old goalkeeper hinted out that he could be retiring at the end of the season recording most of his best years as a professional undoubtedly came at Chelsea, for whom he played from 2004 until 2015, winning 13 major trophies.

Petr Cech left Chelsea after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois, who has since moved to Real Madrid and while he is no longer first choice at Arsenal either, but he has been used by Unai Emery en route to the Europa League semi-finals.

The Gunners will be welcomed by Valencia at Mestalla with a 3-1 up from the first leg, while Blues will fight in the other semi at Stamford Bridge having drawn 1-1 away to Eintracht Frankfurt last week, and Cech acknowledges an emotional send-off appears realistic.

Should Arsenal get beyond Marcelino’s men, Cech will have the chance to feature in a fourth European final and second in the Europa League.

Cech’s biggest impact in those showpiece matches came in 2011-12 when denying Bayern Munich’s Ivica Olic in the penalty shoot-out that Chelsea won 4-3 to lift the Champions League trophy, though the former Czech Republic international prefers to not look back on such moments just yet.
