Mt Kenya elders caution Uhuru on undermining Ruto

Unhappy Mt Kenya leaders have reportedly cautioned President Uhuru Kenyatta against sidelining Deputy President William Ruto in is recent appointments of government jobs.

According to Mt Kenya Council of Elders, the appointments only favoured those supporting the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina on Citizen TV Jeff Koinange Live show as well lamented that no maasai has been appointed to the parastatal jobs.

In a Gazette notice dated June 6, President Uhuru Kenyatta made 106 new appointments to various State Corporations.

Key political losers have made a comeback in the new Parastatal changes announced on Wednesday last week.

The Council chairman of the elders Paul Mwati stated that Uhuru needed to review his relationship with Ruto and address the divisions in the Jubilee party.

“I want to remind the President that he is undermining his own statesmanship by frustrating and belittling his deputy,” Mwati remarked.

“The architects of the Jubilee government are both Uhuru and Ruto and this is a matter of public record and every effort aimed at undermining Ruto as the Deputy President of Kenya will fail,” he added.

Mwati professed that history may judge Uhuru harshly if he failed to deliver on his Big Four. 

Furthermore, he asked Uhuru to openly declare his stand on whether he will support Ruto as his successor when he retires in 2022
