Blow to corrupt police as IG Mutyambai reveals plans to remove roadblocks

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has put on notice corrupt traffic officers warning them that their days are numbered.

The Inspector General at the same time announced plans to reduce the number of road blocks on Kenyan roads as a way of curbing graft.

Speaking at Athi river, Mavoko in Machakos County when he launched modern police houses constructed by the county Government of Machakos, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai cautioned traffic officers against receiving bribe, saying this will not happen under his watch.

He said road blocks, were being used as a den for bribery.

Mutyambai at the same time lauded the county government of Machakos for its move to improve the status of police housing saying, the noble idea was amongst his first priority as the police IG.

Sentiments echoed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who urged other county governments to emulate the good cause.

The five bungalows will house police officers from the Athi River police station.
